Hôtel de Ville de Bruxelles, Brussels

4.7
The main seat of city administration since the Middle Ages, Hôtel de Ville de Bruxelles may be the first thing to draw your eye in the Market Place. The central tower was restored in the early 1990s, and the exterior is a series of detailed reliefs and sculptures dating back to the 15th century. The exterior is the most impressive part of the building, but a tour through some of the inside rooms doesn't disappoint. Begin your tour in a reception hall, which is free to enter, but a small fee gets you access to the rest of the exhibits. The fee includes a tour guide, and you only need to book 15 minutes in advance. Tours are in Dutch, French, and English daily, but each language is given at a specific time of day, so check the attraction's website for specific times. The building is still the seat of the Brussels mayor, so some rooms are closed to the public. Hôtel de Ville de Bruxelles is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Brussels Edition.

  • Imposing and beautiful, the headquarters of the city of Brussels is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Unfortunately, I couldn't attend the tour, because there were no more seats in the day I was there. But the beauty of the external architecture is worth the ride. Is the building that dominates the Grand Place.

  • super pure happiness to visit this place in the company of floral creations with exceptional music and more classic in life. the place reflects its history and present time with all his furniture and contemporary adaptations to make the place in agreement with its use... to get married in the wedding room should be a great time.

Where to stay in Brussels

It's easy to find accommodations in Brussels for nearly any budget. Tourists generally gravitate to the area surrounding Grand-Place, the city's main square. Also consider staying near Stephanie Square Centre and Boulevard de Waterloo, which are both centrally located. As Europe's unofficial capital, the city boasts a wealth of high-end hotels for visiting diplomats, concentrated along glitzy Avenue Louise. Those looking for a low-budget option will find a host of hostels scattered around the Grand-Place and within walking distance to the city's main attractions.
