Convict architect Francis Greenway designed the building in the 19th century to house inmates. Today, the square Georgian structure is a museum displaying the barrack's history. View the large murals that line its corridors and show the convicts' offences, which resulted in deportation to Australia. Hyde Park Barracks Museum is on the Unesco World Heritage list as an Australian convict site. • Lovely trees to sit under amongst the meandering roots. A constant symphony of insects and birds filling the air. You can be surrounded by people but at the same feel a satisfying solitude. The sheet of water in front of the memorial is also a beautiful place to take photos or just watch the reflections. Good wide running paths.
  • Nice city park with the smell of China Town near by. Take a train from nearby Martin Place to Town Hall and have a relaxing stroll towards Darling Harbour. Hyde Park is an ideal place to show of some of your magic tricks to walkers/joggers.
